About Mindfulness

Mindfulness is the awareness that can be cultivated through paying attention to what is happening in the present moment, internally and externally, with an attitude of friendliness and curiosity, and with an intention of developing a wise understanding to respond more skillfully in the world.

We will unpack this definition in the six-week introduction training in mindfulness program, so that you can find your own way of relating to this practice.

About Meditation

Meditation is an opportunity to cultivate and explore the practice of mindfulness. In the same way a person may go to a gym to develop strength and skills that can then be useful in sports and in healthy living, a meditation practice helps us develop skills with the mind-body processes, which we can bring to our relationships with others and ourselves.

I am a MTI Certified Teacher, having completed the Mindfulness Training Institute’s Certified Mindfulness Teacher Training with Mark Coleman and Martin Aylward in July 2021.

I have been practicing meditation and mindfulness since 2014, when I first took a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction course with Jeanne Corrigal. After that class ended, I continued my practice with the Saskatoon Insight Meditation Community, and I am a contributor to that organization’s planning committee and have been a retreat manager for several years.

I have attended several retreats with various teachers including Jeanne Corrigal, Susie Harrington, Adrianne Ross, Ayya Anandabodhi, Pascal Auclair, Anushka Fernandopulle, Bob Stahl, Howie Cohn, Mark Coleman, and others

I have engaged in several training programs, including the Intensive Practice Program through the UCLA Mindful Awareness Research Center, and extensive training with the Buddhist Geeks Sangha, including Social Meditation Facilitation and the 2024-25 Buddhist Geeks Teacher Training Program with Vince Fakhoury Horn and Emily West Horn.

I work in Information Technology, developing and supporting business applications.

I look forward to practicing with you.
